Six Run First Leads Braves to Victory
The Rome Braves defeated the Asheville Tourists 9-4 on Tuesday morning in the final game of the four game series. Connor Oliver extended his hitting streak to fourteen games with two hits on the day and Victor Reyes extended his hitting to thirteen games with two hits and an RBI.
The Braves took an early lead in the first on RBI singles by Victor Caratini and Joey Meneses and a grand slam by Jake Schrader (3) for the 6-0 score. Rome added to their lead in the second with a two run homer by Meneses (6) to make the score 8-0. The Tourists posted three runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth but the Braves bullpen would hold them off for the remainder of the game for a final score of 9-4.
Michael Swanner (1-0) gets his first win of the season while Konnor Wade (2-4) is charged with the loss. Meneses was a double shy of his second cycle of the series with three hits and three RBI.
The Rome Braves travel to Greensboro for a three game series beginning tomorrow and then travel to Lakewood for a four game series before returning home to take on Greensboro on May 22nd.
