Holy iconic TV star!

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Caped Crusader's first appearance, the Red Wings presented Batman and Robin Night on June 28, 2014 - sponsored by Wesley Gardens Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Services, 96.5 WCMF, News10NBC and MeTV Rochester.

Batman and Robin Night was selected as one of 10 Promo of the Year finalist in the 2014 MiLB.com MiLBY Awards, and we finished third in the voting. Congratulations to El Paso and Portland, whose promotions finished ahead of our Batman and Robin Night.

Actor Burt Ward was 19 years old when he appeared with Adam West in Batman, which premiered in January 1966. The series aired for three seasons and also prompted the 1966 feature film. The TV series was a pop culture sensation with its campy approach, bright colors, and celebrity guest stars. Episodes still air across the country, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced that the series will be released for the first time on DVD later this year. 2014 is the the 75th anniversary of the DC Comics Batman character's first appearance, with a national Batman Day announced for July 23.

Ward and his wife Tracy founded Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, a non-profit charitable organziation which rescues giant breed dogs like Great Danes. Their work with Gentle Giants has been featured in People magazine and on Inside Edition, Entertainment Tonight and the Animal Planet network. Ward also keeps a busy schedule appearing at comic-cons and Batman fan conventions.

On June 28, Ward will sign autographs from 6-6:45 p.m, be introduced on the field, and throw out the first pitch. He will also sign autographs from 7:10-8 p.m.

AUTOGRAPH SESSION DETAILS: Fans will have two options if they would like to receive an autograph from Burt Ward:

* purchase an official event color photo for $10 each, which includes a free autograph from Ward;

* any other items will be signed for $40 each (cash only), with proceeds going to the Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions organization.

Time will not permit fans to ask to pose with our guest for photos or videos.

The gates will open at 6 p.m. for the autograph session, regardless of the weather. The autograph session will take place as scheduled, regardless of the weather and regardless of whether the game is played or not.

 

The Batmobile

 

The Batmobile fans will see on June 28, shown above, is an exact replica of the famed TV series car. This Batmobile is owned by Red Wings fan, Batman fan, auto enthusiast and Supervisor of the Town of Greece Bill Reilich. Fans will be able to take photos of the Batmobile while it's on display in the concourse during the autograph session.
