'Juan Gone' to join Bisons

Cleveland Indians outfielder Juan Gonzalez will join the Buffalo Bisons on Monday, May 23 on Major League Rehab. He is expected to start for the Herd in their 10:35 a.m. game against the Charlotte Knights.

Gonzalez, 35, has been playing in extended Spring Training. He began the 2005 season on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Gonzalez was signed as a free agent by Cleveland on January 11, 2005 for his second tour of duty with the Tribe. The outfielder played for the Indians in 2001, hitting .325 (173-532) with 34 doubles, 35 home runs and 140RBI in 140 games.

In his career, Gonzalez has played in the Major Leagues with Cleveland, Texas, Detroit and Kansas City with 434 home runs and 1404 RBI in 1688 games. He was named the American League Most Valuable Player in 1996 and 1997.
