Bid to win Tyler Gaffney & Rinku Singh jerseys!
Spikes fans have the chance to win one-of-a-kind, historic merchandise over the next two weeks as the game-worn Spikes jerseys of gridiron star Tyler Gaffney and "Million Dollar Arm" movie subject Rinku Singh are now up for bids in four special auctions.
The auctions are currently available to view at http://spikes.milbauctions.com, with two jerseys on the auction block for both Gaffney and Singh. Fans have until Sunday, June 1 at 4 p.m. to make their best bid and secure these pieces of Spikes history.
Gaffney, the sixth-round choice of the Carolina Panthers in this year's NFL Draft, manned the outfield for the Spikes in 2012 and earned a berth New York-Penn League All-Star Game that season. After returning to Stanford to complete his college football career, the San Diego, CA native was named a Doak Walker Award semifinalist and USA Today second-team All-American after rushing for 1709 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2013.
Singh pitched for the Spikes in 2010 and 2011, making five appearances over two seasons. The Lucknow, India native began his journey through American professional baseball by winning the Indian reality TV series "Million Dollar Arm," and his exploits are now on the silver screen in the Disney film of the same name currently in theaters.
Fans will be also be able to bid on the jerseys of more Spikes alumni, including 2013 stars David Washington and Carson Kelly, in weeks to come.
The Spikes, the Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, will open the club's ninth season on Saturday, June 14 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park against the rival Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies). The Spikes will have 38 regular season home dates between June 14 and August 30. Single-game tickets for the entire 2014 season are now on sale.
