Get to the 5/29 game early for Weber HOF induction

May 21, 2014

The Toledo Mud Hens will be honoring longtime announcer Jim Weber, as he becomes the first broadcaster to be inducted into the International League Hall of Fame. Before the Mud Hens home game on May 29, the team will hold a special ceremony for Weber. That ceremony will include the unveiling of the Hall of Fame plaque and a "Curtain Call" statue in his honor.

Weber has been broadcasting Mud Hens games since 1975, the longest current tenure of any announcer in the IL. Weber has called more than 5,000 consecutive Mud Hens games, and has called two Triple-A All Star games, in 1990 and 2006. His radio career began back in 1969, calling high school football and basketball games.

Weber joins former League MVP Jeff Manto and current Scranton/WB Manager Dave Miley in the International League Hall of Fame Class of 2014. They were elected by a vote of living Hall of Famers, longtime executives, broadcasters and members of the media.

On May 29, the Mud Hens take on the Durham Bulls at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the box office at 419-725-4367 or online
