Urias Shines in Win over Inland Empire
San Bernardino, CA - The Quakes earned a 3-1 win over Inland Empire behind fantastic pitching on Tuesday night at San Manuel Stadium. Quakes pitchers only allowed three hits and did not walk a single batter in the game.
Julio Urias (1-1, 4.11) earned his first win of the year for Rancho. He gave up just one hit in a season-long five innings while striking out five and walking none. Dennis Raben reached base twice against Urias, but no other batter did. The 17-year-old southpaw has 21 strikeouts and just two walks in his last 20 innings.
Rancho Cucamonga (22-25) scored all three of their runs in the second inning against Kyle McGowin (1-5, 2.93). Rancho loaded the bases on a pair of singles and a walk for Brandon Dixon. With one out, Dixon roped a base hit into left-center field that scored two runs and Rancho took a 2-0 lead.
Two batters later, Corey Seager came up with men on the corners. His bouncer up the third-base line came to rest on the chalk, allowing James Baldwin to score. Seager had three hits tonight, giving him four straight multi-hit games for the Quakes.
The three runs would be enough for Rancho's pitchers tonight. Inland Empire's only run came in the sixth inning off of Owen Jones. With one out, Sherman Johnson hit his fourth home run of the year to left field. Jones settled down to retire the next two batters.
Dan Coulombe and Rob Rogers each pitched scoreless innings to get the game to Rancho closer Blake Smith. Smith retired all three men he faced to pick up his fifth save of the year. It was just the second win of the year for Rancho at Inland Empire.

First pitch is at 7:05 pm and the game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1350 starting with the LoanMart Pregame Report at 6:50 pm.
