Second Baseman candidates:

Adonis Harrison - 1997

The Stats: .318 average (131 hits in 412 at bats), .403 OBP, .865 OPS, 26 doubles, 6 triples, 7 home runs, 62 runs batted in, 25 stolen bases

The Facts: Seattle Mariners 24th round draft pick in 1994 out of Muir (CA) High School; Opening Day Age: 20

The Case:  Solid numbers across the board as he is first in on base percentage and second in OPS, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, and stolen bases among candidates 

 

Jermaine Clark - 1998

The Stats: .324 average (145 hits in 448 at bats), .402 OBP, .877 OPS, 24 doubles, 13 triples, 6 home runs, 55 runs batted in, 14 stolen bases

The Facts: Seattle Mariners 5th round draft pick in 1997 out of the University of San Francisco; Post-Season Midwest League All Star; Opening Day Age: 21

The Case:  Probably the best defensively out of the four.  His thirteen triples are a team record and his OPS is tops among second basemen.

 

Pedro Liriano - 2001

The Stats: .326 average (144 hits in 442 at bats), .373 OBP, .803 OPS, 28 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, 47 runs batted in, 65 stolen bases

The Facts: Signed by the Seattle Mariners as an amateur free agent in 1999 out of the Dominican Republic;  Midwest League All Star; Post-Season Midwest League All Star; Opening Day Age: 24

The Case:  Highest average by a second baseman and he is the franchise record holder for steals in a season.

 

Brett Lawrie - 2009

The Stats: .274 average (102 hits in 372 at bats), .348 OBP, .802 OPS, 18 doubles, 5 triple, 13 home runs, 65 runs batted in, 19 stolen bases

The Facts: Milwaukee Brewers 1st round draft pick in 2008 out of Brookswood Secondary School, Langley, British Columbia; Midwest League All Star; MLB Futures Game Participant; Opening Day Age: 19

The Case:  Youngest of the group showed the most power and led in RBI.
