Mobile drops finale to Tennessee 7-2
KODAK, TN -- The Mobile BayBears fell to the hands of the Tennessee Smokies Sunday night. Mobile took the series three games to two, but Tennessee avoided dropping their third straight game, downing the BayBears 7-2 in the final game of the five game road series at Smokies Park.
The Smokies scored in their first at bat. Rubi Silva doubled then on a Kris Bryant ground-out Silva broke for third and when Jon Griffin's throw to the third base bag sailed into the bullpen Silva went home. Most of the Smokies runs came in the fourth inning. Rafael Lopez singled and Dustin Geiger doubled putting runners at second and third. Tennessee took 3-0 lead in the next at bat when Wes Darvill drove in both runners with a two-run double. Darvill scored from third with a RBI single from Jeudy Valdez and Jae-Hoon Ha extended the Smokies lead to five nothing with an RBI single that plated Valdez. Geiger struck again in the sixth inning with a two-run double.
Mobile scored two runs in the sixth when Dustin Martin singled and scored on a RBI double from David Peralta. For Peralta, the RBI was his league-leading 43 runner batted in of the season. He then scored when Lamb doubled one batter later. The two runs would be the only scoring for Mobile on the night. In the ninth inning the BayBears loaded the bases but with two out the BayBears left the bags full, dropping the series finale.
RHP Mike Lee (3-3) was credited with his first loss in over a month. Lee allowed four earned runs on six hits in just four innings on the mound.
