Skinner returns to manage Aeros
Since leaving the Aeros after the 1999 season, Skinner went on to manage the Buffalo Bisons, then the Triple-A affiliate of the Indians. Skinner's managerial skills again did not go unnoticed when he was named the Minor League Manager of the Year by Baseball America and The Sporting News as well as International League Manager of the Year. In late 2000, Skinner was named to the Indians coaching staff, where he remained until the conclusion of the 2009 season.
Former Aeros manager Mike Sarbaugh has been selected to lead the Indians' Triple-A club in Columbus for the 2010 season. Sarbaugh has been a part of the Indians organization since 2000, when he served as the Aeros' hitting coach. During his time managing the Aeros, Sarbaugh had a record of 169-115. Sarbaugh has had success at every level of the Indians organization, winning titles with Mahoning Valley (2004), Kinston (2006) and Akron (2009).
The Aeros begin their defense of the 2009 Eastern League Championship on Thursday, April 8th against the Binghamton Mets in Binghamton, N.Y.
