Braves Announce Minor League Coaching Staffs for 2010
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves announced their 2010 minor league coaching staffs today, including new coaches at the Double-A and Single-A levels.
The Wild-Card winning Gwinnett Braves (AAA) coaching staff returns for its second season in Gwinnett. Dave Brundage is in his fourth season as the Triple-A manager and trainer Mike Graus will be entering his 17th season with the Braves. Pitching coach Derek Botelho returns for his second season with Gwinnett. After serving as the Mississippi (AA) pitching coach for two seasons. Returning for his second season as the Gwinnett hitting coach is Jamie Dismuke, who spent nine seasons coaching in the Cincinnati Reds' organization, the last five as the Double-A Chattanooga hitting coach.
Phillip Wellman returns for his fourth season as manager of Mississippi (AA) and trainer Ricky Alcantara returns for his third season. Marty Reed will serve as the pitching coach for the second consecutive season, after spending nine years in the Los Angeles Dodgers system as a pitching coach, including the last three as the minor league pitching coordinator. Garey Ingram will be making his Braves' debut as the hitting coach. Ingram spent the 2009 season as the hitting coach for San Francisco's Double-A Connecticut affiliate after spending the previous seven seasons (2002-08) as a minor league hitting coach in the Los Angeles Dodgers system. Upon retiring after his 14-year professional career, Ingram began coaching with the GCL Dodgers.
The Myrtle Beach (A) coaching staff returns Rocket Wheeler as the manager, Rick Albert as the hitting coach and trainer Chas Miller. Kent Willis joins the team as the pitching coach after serving as the Braves Minor League Pitching Coordinator for four seasons. Willis, 41, completed his 15th season as a member of the Braves' farm system in 2009.
Randy Ingle will return to Rome (A) in his 19th season managing in the Braves' system. Bobby Moore returns as the hitting coach in his 10th consecutive season and Jim Czajkowski returns for his third season as the pitching coach. Trainer Allan Chase will be serving his second season with the team after spending two seasons as the Gulf Coast team trainer.
Appalachian League Champions Danville (Rookie) returns all three coaches, as Paul Runge will be in his sixth season managing Danville, with pitching coach Derrick Lewis and hitting coach Carlos Mendez each returning for their third season.
Luis Ortiz returns as the Gulf Coast (Rookie) manager for his sixth, along with hitting coach Sixto Lezcano and pitching coach Gabe Luckert. Trainer Ty Cobbs returns to the team after serving one year with the Danville Braves.
