Spikes 2010 Schedule and Game Times Released

Home Opener Set for Saturday, June 19

STATE COLLEGE - The State College Spikes have announced the club's schedule and game times for the 2010 New York-Penn League season. The Spikes fifth season of providing Central Pennsylvania's best summertime family value will open on Friday, June 18 with a road game against the rival Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies). The Home Opener at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will take place the following night, Saturday, June 19 at 7:05 p.m., also against the Crosscutters.

The Spikes will host 38 NYPL regular season contests at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park between June 19 and September 5. Standard game times will remain 7:05 p.m. for Monday through Saturday contests and 6:05 p.m. on Sundays. Four exceptions to standard game times will occur during the season: Sunday, July 4 vs. Hudson Valley (afternoon); Tuesday, July 13 vs. Vermont (Noon); Wednesday, September 1 vs. Auburn (6:35 p.m.) and Thursday, September 2 vs. Auburn (6:35 p.m.). The September 1 and 2 games will start 30 minutes earlier as a consideration for the beginning of the school calendar.

Williamsport will be the Spikes most common opponent once again in 2010, as the two clubs will meet 12 times in the latest installment of the "Sawbuck Series". Last season, the 'Cutters and Spikes split the series six wins apiece.

Pinckney Division rivals Auburn (Toronto Blue Jays), Batavia (St. Louis Cardinals), Jamestown (Florida Marlins) and Mahoning Valley (Cleveland Indians) will each make trips to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Additionally, interdivisional opponents Hudson Valley (Tampa Bay Rays), Staten Island (New York Yankees), Tri-City (Houston Astros) and Vermont (Washington Nationals) will make their biannual trips to State College.
