Dunedin stymied in 5-0 loss at Roger Dean

Pompey steals his 20th base and collects two hits in losing effort
May 31, 2014

Jupiter, FL - It was a rough night at Roger Dean Stadium for the Blue Jays (38-16), who had their three-game winning streak snapped in a 5-0 loss against the Jupiter Hammerheads (23-32), who snapped a seven-game losing skid on Saturday night.

Dunedin's offense mustered just five hits -- two singles from CF Dalton Pompey (who also stole a base), base hits from RF Marcus Knecht and 2B Christian Lopes, as well as a double from SS Peter Mooney.

The Blue Jays stranded seven runners on base and went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

RHP Ben White (L, 2-3) allowed four runs on eight hits with no walks and a strikeout in 3.1 innings, giving way to LHP Efrain Nieves, who held the Hammerheads scoreless with two hits and two walks over 2.1 innings.

RHP Justin Jackson struck out the side in the seventh inning to keep the Blue Jays close, but Jupiter plated a run off LHP Tony Davis to make it 5-0 in the eighth.

The Hammerheads pounded out 15 hits, and all but one of their starters had at least one base knock. Colin Moran, the sixth overall pick in the 2013 draft, went 3-for-5, and Jupiter got two-out RBI singles from Ryan Goetz, Jesus Solorzano and Austin Barnes.

The Blue Jays will send LHP Matt Boyd (4-0, 0.29 ERA) to the mound for the first time since his return from Double-A New Hampshire.
