Billy Schrivner West Tennessee High School All-Star Game Set for Wednesday

JACKSON, TENN. (JUNE 2, 2014) - The Jackson Generals are proud to announce that the seventh annual All-Star game featuring the top baseball seniors in the area has been renamed the Billy Schrivner West Tennessee High School All-Star Game. The game will take place at The Ballpark at Jackson on Wednesday at 6:05 p.m following the Generals 12:05 p.m. game with the Huntsville Stars.

Schrivner, who passed away on March 12, 2014 was a highly respected individual and proud season ticket holder and supporter of the Jackson Generals franchise. Schrivner, as mentioned in his obituary made a tremendous impact on our community and all with whom he associated. He possessed a humble demeanor, an infectious smile, and all who met him regarded him as a true friend. He will be missed but his light will continue to shine through the lives he touched.

Schrivner received innumerable honors throughout his career. A few of the more significant ones are service as a TSSAA supervisor for many years, induction into the Jackson Madison County Sports Hall of Fame, which he helped found, National High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and TSSAA Hall of Fame in 1986. Also, he was a basketball and football official for 33 years and was involved with TSSAA for 60 years. He officiated several National Championship games for NCAA as well as NAIA.

Rusty Schrivner, son of the late Billy Schrivner will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, along with his wife Jan. Billy's wife Margie, will be on hand along with other members of his family including grandson Stafford and granddaughter Sylvia.

Freed-Hardeman University Head Coach Jonathan Estes will manage the Red Team, and Bethel University Head Coach Rusty Thompson will manage the Gray Team.

Tickets for the game are $5 and the gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with first pitch at 6:05 p.m.

In addition, the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex is proud to announce the 2014 West Tennessee High School Softball All-Star Game showcasing the area's best senior softball players.
