PROFESSIONAL COACHING EXPERIENCE: just finished his second season as an assistant coach for the Boise Hawks...also assisted the Boise Hawks coaching staff during the 2001 season and 2002 Northwest League Championship season.

INTERNATIONAL COACHING EXPERIENCE: was a player/coach for Levis Neptunus in Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1993...worked for Major League Baseball International as an assistant coach for the Great Britain National Team in 1996.

COLLEGE COACHING EXPERIENCE: spent 17 years coaching at the collegiate level...first coaching job was an assistant to Rick Baumann at Treasure Valley in 1990-91...he spent 1991-93 as an assistant to Steve Hertz at Gonzaga University...his first head coaching position was at Centralia College in 1994-95 before returning to Treasure Valley as the Associate Head Coach in the fall of 1995...he was named head coach the following year and guided Treasure Valley to four NJCAA Regional appearances in five years...in the fall of 2002 became the head assistant under Chris Sperry at the University of Portland and returned to Gonzaga University as the head assistant in the fall of 2005...he also served as the General Manager and Field Manager of the Ontario Orchard Meadowlarks of the Pacific International League and managed the Kelowna Grizzlies to the Pacific International League Championship in 1995 where his team finished 7th at the NBC World Series...during his college coaching career, Van Tol worked with 48 players who signed with Major League Organizations...12 of them have played in the Major Leagues.

PROFESSIONAL PLAYING EXPERIECE: played two seasons for Levis Neptunus in Rotterdam, Netherlands under Dutch National Team assistant coach, Charlie Urbanus...1992 regular season champions and finished second in the European Cup...in 1993, Neptunus won the Holland Series and the European Cup in Madrid, Spain.

INTERNATIONAL PLAYING EXPERIENCE: was the starting 3B for the Canadian National Team from 1989-91...played in the 1989 Presidential Cup in Taipei, Taiwan...1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle and World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta...1991 World Port Tournament in Rotterdam, Netherlands and Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba.

COLLEGE PLAYING EXPERIENCE: Began his playing career at Treasure Valley Community College, where he was a Scenic West 2nd team All-Conference selection in 1988...he finished his college career at Gonzaga University, where he was the program's first Academic All-American, earning third team honors in 1990 and 1st team All-Pacific 10 Conference honors.

PERSONAL: born February 3, 1967 in Calgary, Alberta...education B.A. Communications, '92 and M.A. Physical Education and Athletic Administration, Gonzaga University '94...resides in Boise, Idaho...married Christina Laca who is currently a Senior Associate Athletic Director at Boise State University...they have four children; Gehrig, Amaia, Peyton and Gibson...was a member of the first collegiate baseball program to play baseball in the Republic of Georgia, of the former Soviet Union...was the Alberta Junior Hockey League Rookie of the Year in 1985.
