Swanner Clubs Walk-Off in 4-3 Win

Modesto, CA. - Will Swanner clubbed a walk-off, two-run homer in the tenth to propel the Nuts to a 4-3 win over the Giants on Friday night at John Thurman Field.

The Giants (31-32) took the lead on a sac fly against Nuts (21-42) reliever Rayan Gonzalez (W, 4-2) In the top of the tenth. In the bottom of the tenth, Rosell Herrera reached with his fourth single of the night. With two outs, Swanner drilled a two-run shot over the right-center field fence to give the Nuts their first extra-inning win this year.

Giants closer Steven Okert (L, 1-2), working in his fourth game over the last five nights, blew his first save of the year. The California League All-Star entered tonight a perfect 18-for-18 in save opportunities.

Ben Alsup turned in his second consecutive quality start. The righty worked 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs while striking out six and walking one.

The second game of the four-game series against the Giants is on Saturday night with righty Devin Burke on the mound for the Nuts. For the Giants, it will be Pat Young on the bump.
