June 8, 2014

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees defeated the Beloit Snappers twice on Sunday afternoon at Community Field, with a 3-2 win in the completion of a suspended game from April 27th and a 3-1 win in game one of the series.

The Bees and the Snappers wrapped up a game that was suspended due to rain back on April 27th. The game was picked up in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Bees went down 1-2-3 and then Joey Krehbiel (3) picked up the save with a scoreless ninth, giving the Bees a 3-2 win.

Bees' starter Ryan Etsell earned the win after working 5.1 innings allowing two runs. Beloit starter Kyle Finnegan (5-3) was charged with the loss.

The Regularly scheduled game started as a pitchers duel betweent starters Clint Sharp and Dylan Covey. The Bees were able to break through in the fifth when Chad Hinshaw doubled in Ryan Dalton with two outs, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead. One hitter later, Mike Fish sent a line drive into center scoring two, extending the Bees lead to 3-0.

Beloit was able to get on the board in the sixth inning thanks to a Jaycob Brugman triple off the right field wall, scoring Boog Powell, cutting the Bees lead down to 3-1.

Ben Carlson came out of the bullpen to strike out the next two hitters, stranding Brugman at third and limiting the damage. The Bees bullpen was dominant and retired 11 straight Beloit hitters in the Bees' 3-1 win.

Bees' starter Clint Sharp (2-3) picked up the win, working 5.1 innings allowing just one run. Dylan Covey (3-5) was charged with the loss after pitching a complete game for the Snappers. Brian Loconsole (2) worked two scoreless innings for the Bees.
