McKeon Returning To 'Evening With The Zephyrs'

Manager of 2003 World Series Champs included among expanded guest list
January 8, 2010
Jack McKeon, two-time National League Manager of the Year and skipper of the 2003 World Champion Florida Marlins, will be returning to New Orleans for the annual "Evening With the Zephyrs" cocktail reception.

The event, to be held at Rosy's Jazz Hall on January 21, begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person, or $100 for a group of four, and price includes food and drinks.

McKeon was a speaker at last year's event, and kept the crowd entertained with stories of his playing days and previous visits to New Orleans.

McKeon managed in nearly 2,000 games in his Major League career, posting a record of 1,011-940 over 15 seasons with the Marlins, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds.

He reached the pinnacle in 2003, when the Marlins beat the New York Yankees in the World Series after sporting a 16-22 record when McKeon was named manager on May 11. At 73, he became the oldest manager to win a World Series.

Also returning to "Evening With The Zephyrs" will be Brian Chattin, Director of Player Development for the Florida Marlins. Chattin will give fans a glimpse of what the 2010 Zephyrs could look like.

In addition, former Zephyrs infielder Jake Gautreau will be appearing at the event. Gautreau played in 62 games for the Zephyrs in 2007, helping the club to division and conference titles.

Current Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington had previously been announced as an attendee of "Evening With The Zephyrs," and more guests will be announced shortly.
