Lake Monsters Release Promo Schedule

BURLINGTON, VT --- A showcase of the Boston Red Sox recent World Series trophies as well as four special guest appearances highlight the Vermont Lake Monsters promotional schedule for the upcoming 2014 season at historic Centennial Field, the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Oakland Athletics announced today.

The 2004, 2007 and 2013 Boston Red Sox World Series trophies will be on display from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Centennial Field on Sunday, June 29th when the Lake Monsters host the Red Sox-affiliated Lowell Spinners. Fans will have the opportunity to get their picture taken with the trophies during the two hours.

There will also be four special appearances at the ballpark throughout the summer from:

* Friday, June 20th: Tim Sweeney, 2002-03 Vermont Expos infielder and 2014 Amazing Race finalist

* Monday, July 7th: Shawn Thornton, Boston Bruins forward

* Friday, August 22nd: Trot Nixon, former Boston Red Sox outfielder

* Sunday, August 24th: Captain Richard Phillips of Underhill, Vt, captain of the Maersk Alabama hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009 and subject of motion picture "Captain Phillips"

The Lake Monsters will also once again have three (3) McKenzie's "Hot Dog Heavens" with 25-cent Hot Dogs June 22nd, July 21st and August 24th, and three (3) post-game fireworks shows June 28th, August 2nd and August 23rd. Ben & Jerry's "Summer of Love" takes place August 1st and CHAMP's Birthday on August 3rd.

Giveaway nights throughout the season include CHAMP Piggy Banks (6/17), Lake Monsters Plastic Tumblers (6/18), Lake Monsters Mini-Bats (6/27), BMX Bike Helmets(7/2), CHAMP Toothbrush Holders (7/17), CHAMP Drawstring Backpacks (7/31), new Lake Monsters Jersey Lunch Bag Coolers (8/13), Pencil Pouches (8/15) and Burton backpacks (8/16).

The Lake Monsters 2014 season begins Friday, June 13th in Lowell, Mass. against the Spinners before Vermont's home opener on Monday, June 16th against the Connecticut Tigers with a 2014 magnetic schedule giveaway for all fans.
