Spokane Indians Announce 2014 Roster
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Indians and Texas Rangers announced the Short-Season Single-A affiliate's 2014 roster Monday morning.
The 24-man roster includes 13 pitchers, three catchers, three infielders and five outfielders. The roster limit in the Northwest League is 35, which leaves room for more players to be added by Opening Day on Friday, June 13th.
Juremi Profar, the younger brother of former Spokane Indians star and current Texas Rangers second baseman Jurickson Profar, headlines the 2014 roster. Profar was signed as an international free agent in 2012. Last season, as a member of the Rangers' Dominican Summer League team, Profar led the team with a .281 batting average in 63 games. This season, split between Triple-A Round Rock and Low-A Hickory, the third baseman is hitting .281 in 34 at-bats.
Cody Chartrand, the Rangers' 36th-round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, won't be moving far to play in Spokane. The right-handed reliever played his college ball at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho. Another familiar face, Ryan Ledbetter, the identical twin brother of 2012 Indians player David Ledbetter, is also on the roster.
Of the announced 25, five players from the 2013 squad that went 38-38 will return to the lights of Avista Stadium. Catcher Marcus Greene, pitcher Luis Pollorena, and outfielders Jamie Jarmon, Saquan Johnson and Eduard Pinto. Pitchers David Perez and Greg Williams also return to Spokane after playing for the team in 2011. As does Charles Moorman, who made a brief pit stop in Spokane last season.
New pitchers include Nick Dignacco, Chris Dula, John Fasola, Nick Gardewine, Jason Hoppe, Adam Parks, Richelson Pena, and Derek Thompson. Position players are Seth Spivey, Jose Trevino, Fernando Vivili, Luke Tendler and Doug Votolato.
