Brad Snyder Gets Big League Promotion

Express Right Fielder Will Be In Uniform for Rangers Tuesday
June 10, 2014

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced Tuesday that they have purchased the contract of 1B/OF Brad Snyder from the Round Rock Express. He will be in uniform for the Rangers Tuesday night in Arlington as they play the Miami Marlins.

Snyder has spent the entire season with the Express, batting .284 (66-for-232) with 18 home runs, 11 doubles and 51 RBI. He ranks among Pacific Coast League leaders in homers (2nd), runs (2nd, 46), extra-base hits (T3rd, 30), total bases (T3rd, 133) and RBI (4th). Over his last 23 games, Snyder has hit .364 (32-for-88) with eight homers, seven doubles and 24 RBI.

Snyder signed a minor league contract with Texas during the offseason after spending 2013 with Triple-A Reno in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He received a non-roster invite to Rangers camp in the spring where he hit .240 (6-for-25) with a double, a homer and six RBI in 16 games before being assigned to Round Rock.

The 32-year old outfielder has amassed 185 home runs and 743 RBI over a 12-year minor league career that has spanned five organizations. His lone major league service time came with the Chicago Cubs in 2010-2011 when he hit .167 (6-for-36) with five RBI in 20 games. Because of his abbreviated stint in the big leagues, Snyder retains rookie status this season.

Snyder was a first-round pick (18th overall) of the Cleveland Indians in 2003 out of Ball State University where he was a first team All-American and the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in his senior season.
