The Dodgers will return to Cashman Field for the first time since March 30, 2006 when they faced the Seattle Mariners (Seattle 4, L.A. 3, sellout crowd of 10,271) and fifth time overall (2001-03, '06). The Las Vegas 51s were the top farm club of the Dodgers for eight seasons (2001-08). The Reds will be making their inaugural Las Vegas visit.

"Las Vegas is a great backdrop for the L.A. Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds to play an exhibition game," said Rossi Ralenkotter, President/CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. "Both teams have a rich history and will appeal to baseball fans who love the game and all that it represents."

The Dodgers, under manager Joe Torre, compiled the best record in the National League with a 95-67 mark (.586) in 2009 and captured the N.L. West Division for the second consecutive season. The Dodgers defeated St. Louis 3-games-to-0 in the NLDS and lost to Philadelphia in the NLCS 4-games-to-1 for the second consecutive season.

The nucleus of the Dodgers team spent time at Triple-A Las Vegas that includes two-time National League All-Star (2007-08) catcher Russell Martin, first baseman James Loney, right-handed pitchers and 2009 N.L. All-Stars Chad Billingsley and Jonathan Broxton and outfielders Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp.

Kemp was instrumental last season in leading the Dodgers to the post-season. He became the first player in Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers franchise history with 25 home runs, 30 steals and 100 RBI in a single season. Kemp, who played in Las Vegas in 2006-07, appeared in 159 games and batted .297 (180-for-606) with 26 home runs, 101 RBI and 34 stolen bases in 42 attempts. He also earned the 2009 National League Silver Slugger and Gold Glove Awards.

Outfielder Manny Ramirez appeared in 104 games and batted .290 (102-for-352) with 24 doubles, 19 home runs and 63 RBI.

Martin appeared in 143 games and batted .250 (126-for-505) with 19 doubles, 7 home runs and 53 RBI. Loney appeared in 158 games and batted .281 (162-for-576) with 25 doubles, 13 home runs and 90 RBI. He played for the 51s for two seasons (2006-07) and was the 2006 PCL Batting Champion with a franchise record .380 average (led all of the minor leagues). Ethier appeared in 160 games and batted .272 (162-for-596) and established career-highs in doubles (42), home runs (31) and RBI (106).

Billingsley led the pitching staff with a 12-11 record and 32 starts. He appeared in 33 games overall and struck out 179 batters, allowed 173 hits in 196.1 innings pitched with a 4.03 ERA. Left-hander Clayton Kershaw ranked second on the staff with 30 starts and compiled an 8-8 record with a 2.79 ERA. He struck out 185 batters, allowed 119 hits in 171.0 innings pitched. Broxton led the staff with 36 saves (in 42 attempts) in 73 appearances. He compiled a 7-2 record with a 2.61 ERA and struck out 114 batters in 76.0 innings pitched.

"We are excited to announce a third game to our Big League lineup in March," 51s President/General Manager Don Logan said. "This adds a nice variety of teams that our fans will get to see play this March at Cashman Field (Cubs, White Sox, Dodgers, Reds). The Dodgers have a tremendous following in Southern Nevada and many of the players on the current big league roster played for the 51s before excelling on the Major League level. The Reds have a great baseball tradition and we welcome them for their first visit to Las Vegas."

The Reds, under manager Dusty Baker, compiled a 78-84 record (.481) in 2009 and finished in fourth place in the National League Central Division, 13.0 games behind the first-place St. Louis Cardinals.

Second baseman Brandon Phillips led the team in games played (153) and RBI (98). He batted .276 (161-for-584) with 30 doubles, 20 home runs and 25 stolen bases in 34 attempts. First baseman Joey Votto led the team in batting average (.322, 151-for-469) doubles (38) and home runs (25) and ranked second with 84 RBI.

Right-hander Bronson Arroyo led the pitching staff in starts (33), wins (15), complete-games (3), shutouts (2) and innings pitched (220.1). He allowed 214 hits and struck out 127 batters with a 3.84 ERA.

National League All-Star Francisco Cordero led the staff with 39 saves in 43 attempts. The right-hander appeared in 68 games and compiled a 2-6 record with a 2.16 ERA. He struck out 58 batters in 66.2 innings pitched.

The 51s open their 28th season in the Silver State on Thursday, April 8 against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles of Anaheim, at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field.
