R-Phils set mascot band dates

Opening Night included in pre-game concert schedule
February 4, 2010
Reading, Penn. -- The Reading Phillies announced earlier today that the club's popular Mascot Band, presented by National Penn Bank, will perform for fans at every Saturday home game beginning in May, as well as a special performance on Opening Night at FirstEnergy Stadium on April 8.

"Everyone loves the Mascot Band," said R-Phils general manager Scott Hunsicker. "For eight seasons the Mascot Band has performed for fans at FirstEnergy Stadium, and each concert is better, and more exciting than the next."

Debuting during the 2002 season, the Mascot Band has introduced fans to a new kind of musical entertainment. Since the band's inception, they have performed for fans of all ages at FirstEnergy Stadium, as well as other notable venues such as Veterans Stadium and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The band has even been featured on the intro to ESPN's Emmy-winning SportsCenter.

This season, fans can get an up-close look at the Mascot Band ten times at the ballpark, with the first appearance of 2010 on April 8. Then, every Saturday night, beginning with May 8, fans will get a chance to enjoy a truly unique musical performance by the Reading Phillies mascots. The group, which features full-fledged R-Phils mascots, will perform each Saturday on the Classic Café stage during a live pre-game Happy Hour. Each pre-game concert begins two hours before game time, and a full list of dates, along with game times, can be found below.

The R-Phils Mascot Band, which features Quack the Rubber Ducky on lead vocals and guitar, Bucky the Beaver on bass, Blooper the Hound Dog on the keyboard, Change-Up the Turtle on percussion, and Screwball on drums, usually plays some reggae and hip hop music, mixed with hard driving rock-n-roll music during each of their performances.
