Community Partner Spotlight: OverTime Sports Bar & Grill

Overtime Sports Bar & Grill

In this week's edition of the Community Partner Spotlight we focus on what was surely one of the busiest places in Bowling Green this past weekend, OverTime Sports Bar & Grill. The new restaurant, which opened in summer of 2009, will be featured on the front of every Hot Rods ticket in 2010, giving fans a special offer when they redeem their ticket stub in the restaurant. Let's take a few minutes to learn more from owner Brian Simmons.

Hot Rods: How long have you lived and operated OverTime in Bowling Green?

Brian Simmons: I've lived in Bowling Green all of my life. We opened OverTime on June 22, 2009.

HR: What got you into the restaurant business, particularly a sports bar?

BS: I have worked in the restaurant business for years, as a cook, server, and a manager. I decided to open a sports bar because I believe we have a unique concept.

HR: What makes OverTime unique compared to the other sports establishments in Bowling Green?

BS: We try to combine great food, lots of HD TV's, and other forms of recreation, such as pool and corn hole, into one building. You can do more at OverTime than you can anywhere else in Bowling Green.

HR: What sporting events tend to generate the most business for you?

BS: The NFL and University of Kentucky always draw out the most fans. And the Super Bowl made for a very busy day.

HR: Why did you get involved with the Hot Rods?

BS: The Hot Rods are a great way to be seen by a wide section of the community. OverTime also believes that the Hot Rods are a great addition to the community and we want to show our support.

HR: What did you enjoy about going to games in 2009?

BS: We attended several games last year and thought the whole experience was great. The park was beautiful and fan-friendly. Anyone can really enjoy themselves, regardless of age.
