Santa Clara County Hot Stove Banquet
Former San Jose Giant and current San Francisco Giant Pablo Sandoval will also be honored at the banquet as the Major League Player of the Year. Sandoval ranked second in the National League last season with a .330 batting average to go with 44 doubles, 25 home runs and 90 RBI's. The slugger was an integral part of San Jose's 2007 championship squad before earning California League All-Star honors the following year.
The San Jose Giants posted a remarkable 93-47 regular season record in 2009 before claiming their third league championship in the last five seasons. The 93 wins were the most in the California League since 1994. The Giants won the California League title after sweeping the High Desert Mavericks in the Championship Series. San Jose will be receiving the award for Outstanding Professional Organization.
Other award winners include San Jose State's Kyle Bellows (College Player Winner) and David Berner (College Co-Pitcher Winner), Bay Area natives Daniel Descalso (St. Louis Cardinals organization) and Erik Davis (San Diego Padres organization) as Minor League Players of the Year. California League administrator Kathleen Kelly will be honored with the Kathy Wolff Women in Baseball award. Other college, community college, high school, sports media, scout and a lifetime achievement award will also be presented.
Sports broadcaster and San Francisco 49ers radio voice Ted Robinson will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The price for the event is $45 per person or $450 for a reserved table for ten. Advanced payment is required (see attached document).
