Brandon Belt Scheduled to Begin Rehab Assignment Thursday with San Jose Giants
SAN JOSE, CA - The San Francisco Giants have announced that first baseman Brandon Belt is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment with the San Jose Giants Thursday, June 26 at Municipal Stadium. Belt is scheduled to be the designated hitter Thursday night. The 7:00 PM game against the Visalia Rawhide is the opening game of a four game series for the San Jose Giants and great seats are still available. Belt, 26, is recovering from a fractured left thumb he suffered earlier this season. Belt posted a .264 batting average with nine home runs and 18 RBI prior to his injury. He boasts a .272 career batting average and was a member of the 2012 World Series Championship team. A product of the San Francisco Giants farm system, Belt played for the San Jose Giants during the 2010 season and in 77 games hit .383 with 10 home runs and 62 RBI.
Thursday is also World Cup Night at Municipal Stadium as fans are encouraged to come out and celebrate the largest sporting event in the world this summer!
