Voyagers homer in 10th, come out on top 3-2

June 26, 2014

The Great Falls Voyagers (7-3) took game one of a two-game series with the Brewers (4-5) after Chevy Clarke hit a solo homerun in the 10th to lift the visitors to a 3-2 victory.

Cy Sneed got his first start of the year for the Brewers, going three innings, giving up two runs on three hits. Sneed would also mix in three strike outs and did not walk a batter.

Helena struck first when Mitch Meyer scored on a wild pitch by Brandon Brennan in the bottom of the second. Brennan tossed four and one third innings of two-run baseball, giving up four hits and striking out four.

The Voyagers responded with two runs in the top of the third to take their first lead of the ballgame. Louie Lechich reached on an error by shortstop Luis Aviles and later scored on a Clarke fielder's choice. He was followed by an RBI from John Ziznewski to score Jackson Laumann.

Brandon Diaz tied up the ballgame in the bottom of the third when he blasted a solo homerun to center off Brennan. It was Diaz's third of the year.

The two teams would go scoreless through the remainder of nine and send the game to extra innings for the first time in the Brewers' young season.

Chevy Clarke immediately put it to bed with his solo shot off of Junior Rincon (0-1).

The Brewers could not respond in the bottom of the 10th as Connor Walsh (1-0) came up with his second and third strikeout to end the game.

The Brewers and the Voyagers will face off in the finale of their two-game series Thursday at Kindrick Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
