Patriotic Week Kicks Off Monday

June 29, 2014

(Uptown Charlotte, NC) - The red-hot Charlotte Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark on Monday, June 30 to begin a patriotic week in Uptown Charlotte. Starting with the first-ever day-night doubleheader at BB&T Ballpark on Monday, a Team USA soccer viewing party and baseball on Tuesday, spectacular fireworks on Thursday and Friday, and more, the upcoming week at Uptown Charlotte's hottest summer destination spot is a sure to be a hit for all.

The week kicks off with Monday's day-night doubleheader against the Gwinnett Braves (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves). As a result of a rainout on April 18, the Knights will host a game at 12:05 p.m. and then another game later in the day at 7:05 p.m. A separate ticket will be required for entry to each of the two nine-inning games and those fans that already have tickets for June 30 will use those for the 7:05 p.m. game. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. for game one and 6:00 p.m. for game two. The Charlotte Knights will wear their Military Appreciation jerseys during the second game on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Knights will open the main gates to BB&T Ballpark at 3:00 p.m. and fans holding a ticket to the game that evening can come out early to watch Team USA face Belgium in World Cup soccer action on the widest videoboard in Minor League Baseball. Concession stands with food, soft drinks, and beer will be available for purchase. The soccer game gets underway at 4:00 p.m. and fans can watch that while sitting in their seats for the 7:05 p.m. Knights game. Early admission into BB&T Ballpark on Tuesday will also give fans a chance to enjoy batting practice as the Knights take the field at 4:00 p.m. Ticket prices start as low as $8 in advance for Tuesday's game/World Cup viewing party.

America's favorite pastime and fireworks come together on July 3rd as BB&T Ballpark will host Team USA vs. Chinese Taipei in an exciting baseball game. The July 3rd game, which starts at 7:05 p.m., will be the Collegiate National Team's first trip to the Charlotte area since 2010. The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team is 6-1-1 in Charlotte/Fort Mill, SC history, dating back to 1988. Since it is a Thursday, fans can expect to enjoy another Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Hickory Tavern. After the game, the Knights will light up the sky with post-game fireworks.

On Friday, July 4th, the Knights, along with News Talk 1110 WBT, and 107.9 The Link once again partner for SkyShow 2014, which features the largest fireworks display in the Southeast. Festivities start at 3:00 p.m. in the Uptown area and gates open at 6:00 p.m. on Friday as the Knights face the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) at 7:05 p.m. The two teams conclude their series on Saturday, July 5th with a 7:05 p.m. game. The Knights welcome the World Famous ZOOperstars! to BB&T Ballpark, as well as the Hickory Tavern KnightinGals on Saturday.
