RiverDogs Return Home for Independence Day

Fourth of July fireworks, Ghostbusters Bobblehead, Big Splash Day on tap for next homestand

CHARLESTON, SC - A six-game homestand is coming up for the Charleston RiverDogs from Friday, July 4 through Wednesday, July 9. Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park will host Charleston's only downtown Fourth of July fireworks display and many more exciting events in this homestand as the RiverDogs host the Rome Braves and the Greenville Drive for a pair of three-game series.

Friday, July 4, 6:35 pm: The Independence Day Celebration and the largest fireworks show of the season is sponsored by Wells Fargo. Gates open at 5 pm prior to a special first pitch time of 6:35 pm. American flags, courtesy of Carolina One, will be given away before the game. Fort Sumter National Monument will provide a huge American flag in a grand pregame presentation. The Wells Fargo Independence Day Celebration will wrap up after the game with the most anticipated postgame fireworks display of the year. ISHPI Red Shirt Friday, presented by 103.5 WEZL, encourages fans to wear red to the game and save $1 off your ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to Canines for Veterans and Folds of Honor. Canines for Veterans will also have a special pregame service dog presentation. Titus the Wonder Dog will serve as a batdog for an inning with the RiverDogs, who will wear red jerseys in support of the military. It is $3 Aluminum Pint Night from Miller and Coors in the Ashley View Pub. Firefly will be next to the Tiki Hut with an interactive display at Friday's game.

Saturday, July 5, 6:05 pm: Harold Ramis bobbleheads will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans through the gates for the Ghostbusters Bobblehead Giveaway. The Ghostbusters and their car, Ecto-1, are also coming to the game. Social Media Saturday gives fans the chance to make requests to the RiverDogs on Facebook and Twitter for music, promotions and other ballpark features. ABC News 4 Night is also on tap as WCIV Channel 4 is sponsoring Saturday's game. It is also Watermelon Day with visits from South Carolina Watermelon Queen Brooke Hastings Miller and South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers, plus a postgame watermelon sampling. After the game, children may come on to the field to run around the bases.

Sunday, July 6, 5:05 pm: CCPRC and Crews Subaru Kids Club Sunday, sponsored by Y102.5, is filled with fun for the RiverDogs' youngest fans. Pepsi presents Kids Eat Free with a coupon for all children to receive a free hot dog, fountain drink and chips. All members of Charlie's Kids Club get into the game for free, and parking is free, too. All fans can enjoy pregame catch on the field and postgame autographs with the RiverDogs. The Fur Circus, a traveling mascot circus, is coming to perform at the game. Charleston will wear its slimming seersucker uniforms on Seersucker Sunday. Fans that wear seersucker to the game can save $1 off their ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to the Preservation Society of Charleston and the Historic Charleston Foundation. Chef Justin Moore is the celebrity "Smokin' Chef" and will be stationed by the RiverDogs' new meat smoker for the contest.

Monday, July 7, 7:05 pm: Dollar Dogs and Beers Night offers $1 hot dogs and $1 drafts in the Ashley View Pub from Coors and Z93 Jamz. All-Lowcountry Softball and Baseball Night honors the best local softball and baseball players in a special pregame ceremony, presented by The Post and Courier. The Player of the Year honorees will also have their names listed on a permanent display at The Joe. The RiverDogs host the Greenville Drive to continue the Battle of the Palmetto State Rivalry Series, presented by Spinx. The latest edition of "Dogs with a Cause" will feature Camp Good Times.

Tuesday, July 8, 7:05 pm: Harris Teeter 2-for-$20 Date Night, presented by Nash FM, invites couples to show their VIC Card at the box office to receive two tickets to the game, two tacos, two fountain drinks and a nacho tray for only $20. Go Green Night, courtesy of Charleston County Environmental Management, includes a recycle bag giveaway. The RiverDogs host the Greenville Drive to continue the Battle of the Palmetto State Rivalry Series, presented by Spinx.

Wednesday, July 9, 12:05 pm: The RiverDogs celebrate Big Splash Day with a special 12:05 pm start time as The Joe is turned into a water park. Wear your bathing suits and be ready to get wet. There will also be dry zones for fans that wish to avoid the aquatic amusement. HealthSouth Senior Wednesday, courtesy of MeTV, offers a food voucher for all senior citizens (age 65 & older) who enter the ballpark before noon. The voucher is for a free hot dog, a bag of chips and a 16-ounce fountain drink. The RiverDogs close a three-game series with the Greenville Drive as part of the Battle of the Palmetto State Rivalry Series, presented by Spinx.

The RiverDogs will follow this homestand with a four-game road series at the Savannah Sand Gnats before returning home on Tuesday, July 15 to host HOPE Week, a seven-game homestand and the annual Youth Baseball Camp, sponsored by The Kickin' Chicken.
