Cubs are quieted, 3-0
Hiram Bocachica highlighted the offense for the River Cats, taking Iowa starter Federico Baez deep to lead off the second inning, giving Sacramento a 1-0, which would prove to be the game-winning run. 2005 Iowa Cubs MVP Scott McClain, now a River Cat, would single, steal second, and later score in the second frame on a Keith Ginter double.
Three Iowa Cubs pounded out multiple hits as Tony Womack was 3-4 with three singles, Casey McGehee went 2-4 with a pair of singles and Luis Montanez recorded two hits in four at-bats; a single and a double.
With his 2-4 performance, Casey MeGehee extended his hitting streak to seven games, which is the longest current hitting streak on the team and is also a personal season-high.
Federico Baez (0-2) got the loss for the Cubs after giving up three runs in four innings of work. Jason Windsor improved to 3-0 for the River Cats in his third start after being promoted from double-A Midland. Winsor pitched six shutout innings while striking out six. Former Iowa Cub Jason Karnuth got the save, his sixth of the season.
