Ben Paulsen Named 2014 PCL All-Star

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Pacific Coast League announced their 2014 All-Star roster today and Colorado Springs Sky Sox first baseman Ben Paulsen will represent the team at the annual game. The 2014 Triple-A All-Star Game will be played on Thursday, July 16 in Durham, NC at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the home of the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays). The match-up between the Pacific Coast League and the International League will be broadcast live on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network, including the Sky Sox flagship station AM 1300 The Animal, beginning at 7:00 p.m. eastern.

Paulsen, 26, will be making his first Triple-A All-Star appearance and his third All-Star appearance overall as he was also named a Mid-Season Texas League All-Star in 2011 & 2012 while with the Tulsa Drillers. The Sky Sox first baseman currently leads the team in almost every single offensive category including batting average (.306), home runs (13), RBI (53), runs (55), hits (92), doubles (23), triples (5), extra base hits (41), walks (44), total bases (164), on-base percentage (.395), slugging percentage (.545), games played (83), and at bats (301). In addition, he is among the top five of the league leaders in doubles (T-3^rd), extra base hits (2^nd), runs scored (4^th), total bases (2^nd), and walks (T-5^th).

In 2013 with the Sky Sox, Paulsen hit .292 (134-for-459) with a career-high 32 doubles to go along with ten triples and 18 homers. That season he also led the PCL with 60 extra base hits. The left-handed hitter was originally drafted by Colorado in the 3^rd round of the 2009 draft out of Clemson University where as a Junior he lead the team in batting average (.367), hits (95), doubles (18), home runs (13), and RBI (61).
