Kris Bryant Named Cubs' Minor League Player of the Month for June

Oklahoma City, OK - The Chicago Cubs have named Iowa 3B Kris Bryant the organization's Minor League Player of the Month for June. Bryant was also the organization's player of the month in May.

Bryant combined to hit .354 (34-for-96) with 24 runs scored, eight doubles, 11 home runs, and 27 RBI in 26 games between double-A Tennessee and Iowa in June. He drew 17 walks to post a .447 on-base percentage and had a .781 slugging percentage. Bryant's 11 home runs for the month led all of minor league baseball. He twice homered in three straight games, June 7-9 with Tennessee and June 22-24 with the I-Cubs, including his first career multi-homer game on June 22 against Albuquerque at Principal Park. His first five hits in an Iowa uniform were all home runs over his first six games.

Bryant participated in the Southern League All-Star Game and won the Home Run Derby as part of the All-Star festivities prior to joining Iowa on June 19. Bryant will participate in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game at Target Field in Minneapolis on Sunday, July 13. The Cubs drafted Bryant out of the University of San Diego with the second overall pick in the 2013 draft. Bryant is batting .357 (112-for-314) with 26 doubles, 29 home runs, and 78 RBI in 86 games overall this season. He leads all of minor league baseball in RBI, extra-base hits (55), and total bases (224).
