Former Isotopes INF Dee Gordon Selected To National League All-Star Team
Former Isotopes infielder Dee Gordon has been named to the 2014 National League All-Star Team. The 85th edition of the Major League All-Star Game will be held at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN, on July 15, 2014.
The 26-year-old second baseman is hitting .301 in 84 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers this season. He has a league-leading nine triples to go along with 14 doubles, two home runs and 25 RBI. He also leads the National League with 42 stolen bases.
Gordon played in parts of three seasons with Albuquerque from 2011-13, batting .311 (215-for-692) with 27 doubles, 16 triples and 58 RBI. He stole 81 bases in 97 attempts (84 percent).
Gordon first appeared with Albuquerque in 2011, playing in 70 games with a .333 batting average before making his Major League debut on June 6 against the Philadelphia Phillies. He spent the majority of the 2012 season in Los Angeles but played in eight games with the Topes, batting .267 with a triple and an RBI.
In 2013 Gordon moved from shortstop to second base for the Isotopes and hit .297 with 17 doubles, nine triples and 33 RBI in 92 games. He also stole an Isotopes record 49 bases.
He was invited to the Midsummer Classic by way of Player Balloting, along with catcher Jonathan Lucroy (Milwaukee Brewers); first baseman Freddie Freeman (Atlanta Braves); shortstop Starlin Castro (Chicago Cubs); third baseman Todd Frazier (Cincinnati Reds); and outfielders Giancarlo Stanton (Miami Marlins), Charlie Blackmon (Colorado Rockies) and Hunter Pence (San Francisco Giants).
Gordon will join Dodger teammates left-hander pitcher Clayton Kershaw, right-hander Zack Greinke and outfielder Yasiel Puig.
Still representing Albuquerque, Isotopes outfielder Joc Pederson has been elected to the Triple-A All-Star game on July 16 in Durham, NC. Pitching Coach Glenn Dishman will also serve on the Pacific Coast League's field staff.
