July 6, 2014

MISSOULA, Mont. (July 6, 2014) -The Great Falls Voyagers set a season-high with 17 hits as they completed a sweep of the Missoula Osprey with an 11-8 win Sunday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

The Voyagers (12-9) picked up where they left off after Saturday's season-high 13 runs, tallying five in the first against Osprey starter Gabriel Moya (2-1). Jake Peter got things going for the visitors, smashing a triple to straightaway center to score Hunter Jones for the contest's first run.

The rest of the damage for Great Falls all came after two were down in the frame. Patrick Palmeiro and Jackson Laumann each picked up run-producing singles for the Voyagers, and Mason Robbins drove in a pair with a two-run homer, his first professional long ball.

In the fourth, the Voyagers tallied another against the southpaw Moya, as Chevy Clarke tied Laumann for the team lead in RBIs, collecting his 13th with a run-producing single.

Robbins continued his big day in the fifth, adding his third RBI of the contest on a fielder's choice grounder. Great Falls then tacked on two more against the Missoula bullpen in the sixth when Toby Thomas drove his first homer of the year to left and Jones scampered home on a wild pitch.

The final two of the day for Great Falls came across in the seventh as Thomas drove in a run with a triple, and then came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Jones.

Missoula (10-11) tallied two runs in the middle innings against Great Falls reliever Brian Clark, including a solo homer from Kevin Cron in the fourth. The lefty then settled in and gave the Voyagers three innings to earn his first career win.

The Osprey scored six runs over the contest's final three frames and brought the tying run to plate in the bottom of the ninth, but Charlie Sharrer buckled down to record the final out and give Great Falls a sweep of the two-game weekend set.

After their first off day of the season on Monday, the Voyagers will begin a seven-game homestand Monday night against the Ogden Raptors at Centene Stadium. Great Falls will send left-hander Chris Freudenberg (1-2, 1.74) to the bump, while Ogden will counter with righty Abdiel Velasquez (1-1, 3.09). First pitch is set for 7:00 and coverage will begin at 6:45 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
