Pawtucket's 7-run seventh leads to 11-2 win over Hens

July 10, 2014

A seven-run seventh inning vaulted Pawtucket to a 11-2 series-opening win over Toledo Thursday night at Fifth Third Field.

The Red Sox sent 12 batters to the plate in the seventh inning, which last 42 minutes. Toledo went through through three pitchers during the frame as Pawtucket strung together six hits and drew three walks. Daniel Schlereth induced what would have likely been an inning-ending double play after just one run had scored, but the infield was playing in to cut down a potential run at the plate and the ball bounced over the head of first baseman Jordan Lennerton.

Toledo starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein allowed just two runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings of work. The left-hander took the loss. He is 6-9 with a 3.71 ERA. He struck out seven and walked none, but threw 99 pitches before being relieved by Evan Reed.

Hens second baseman/shortstop Danny Worth pitched the top of the ninth inning. He allowed two runs in the frame, a two-run homer off the bat of Corey Brown. In the bottom of the ninth, Worth became the first Hens pitcher to record a hit in a game since Mike Oquist on August 31, 2000.

Jordan Lennerton and Mike Hessman were each 2-for-4 in the loss, while Ezequiel Carrera was 1-for-5, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

Toledo (45-50) and Pawtucket (50-46) return to action Friday night at 7 p.m.
