Montgomery, Moore Deliver Bulls 3-2 Win In Buffalo

Lefty Earns 9th Win; Bulls Open Up 7-Game Lead
July 10, 2014

Buffalo, NY --- For the third time in four games, Jeremy Moore cracked a tie-breaking home run to lead Mike Montgomery to his ninth win as the Durham Bulls defeated Buffalo 3-2 on Thursday night.

With the game tied 1-1 in the sixth and a lefty warming in the Bisons pen, Jeremy Moore drove the first pitch from starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez (L, 0-2) over the right-centerfield wall for his fourth home run in 13 games with Durham (51-44). Moore also hit tie-breaking homers in consecutive games against Norfolk on Sunday and Monday.

Leading 3-1 in the ninth, Josh Lueke (S, 5) permitted a pair of pinch-hit singles to start the inning, but after a sacrifice fly made it 3-2, Lueke fanned the final two hitters of the game for his fifth save.

Montgomery (W, 9-1) pitched well through traffic, surrendering just one run over 5 1/3 innings despite allowing eight Buffalo (48-46) baserunners.

Justin Christian went 3-4 with a double and scoring two runs to help lead the Bulls to a seven game lead in the South. Second place Gwinnett was rained out on Thursday night.

The four-game series continues on Friday night with Nathan Karns (5-5, 5.99) opposing Buffalo right-hander Deck McGuire (3-4, 5.51) at 7:05 PM ET.
