July 11, 2014

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - Gwinnett Braves' manager Brian Snitker has been named to the U.S. Team coaching staff for the 2014 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 13. Snitker joins the U.S. staff headed by former Minnesota Twins manager Tom Kelly.

Manager of the Gwinnett Braves since October 14, 2013, Snitker, 58, owns a career record of 1,183-1,194 (.498) in parts of 18 seasons in the minors. All 38 of his professional seasons as a player and coach have been spent with the Atlanta Braves organization, including the previous seven seasons (2007-13) as the team's Major League third base coach. The pinnacle of Snitker's managerial career came in 1999 and 2000, when he led Advanced-A Myrtle Beach to consecutive Carolina League championships and was twice voted CL Manager of the Year.

Snitker will now be the only Gwinnett Braves representative in Minneapolis. Catcher Christian Bethancourt, selected to his third straight SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on June 24, will not participate for the World Team as he is currently on Atlanta's Major League roster. In nine games since being recalled by the Braves from Triple-A, Bethancourt is batting .278 with a double and two RBIs.

The 16th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will take place at 5 PM ET on Sunday, July 13 at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. The game will air live on MLB.com and MLB Network.

The Gwinnett Braves return to Coolray Field on Thursday, July 17 as they open a four-game series against the Durham Bulls. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM. Tickets are on sale now at the Coolray Field Ticket Office, call 678-277-0340 or visit GwinnettBraves.com to purchase.
