SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The Sacramento River Cats held off a late Reno Aces rally, and beat the Aces, 4-3 Saturday night at Raley Field.

The Aces got runners to second and third with one out in the ninth inning, but couldn't plate the tying run.

Reno opened the scoring in the second inning when Garrett Weber hit a solo home run to left field with two outs in the inning. The home run would be Reno's only hit until the seventh inning.

Sacramento got on the board with three runs in the third inning. Shane Peterson drove home two with a double to center field, and Josh Whitaker plated Peterson in the next at-bat with a soft single to right.

The River Cats added to their lead in the fourth when Alden Carrithers hit an RBI double to center, scoring Kenny Wilson.

The Aces' offense was held in check until the seventh inning, when Andy Marte doubled and then scored on a stolen base and a throwing error. Weber then reached on an error, and scored when Argenis Diaz laced a triple to right field.

In the ninth inning, Marte and Mike Jacobs led off with singles, and advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. That's as far as they would get, however, as Diaz and Ronny Cedeño grounded out to end the game.

Weber extended his hitting streak to five games with his home run in the second inning, and has now hit in six of eight games played since being callud up from Double-A Mobile. Marte was the only Aces player to have two hits in the game.
