Kaiser pitches Drillers past Hooks

Marc Kaiser pitched seven solid innings to lead Tulsa past visiting Corpus Christi, 5-2, on Sunday.

Kaiser (3-4) gave up two runs on 10 hits while walking two and striking out three. Jim Miller worked a perfect eighth before Manuel Corpas blanked the Hooks in the ninth for his 13th save, tying Springfield's Mark Worrell for the Texas League lead.

Joseph Koshansky smacked a three-run double and Douglas Bernier added an RBI single in the third to pace the Drillers (29-20), who swept the four-game set.

Hooks starter Joshua Miller (6-4) surrendered five runs on seven hits in five innings, striking out four and walking three.

J.R. House had a two-run double and John Fagan went 3-for-4 for the first-place Hooks, whose lead over the Drillers was sliced to one-half game. --Christopher Heine/MLB.com
