Gregor goes deep twice, 'Hawks lose to 'Hide

LANCASTER, Calif. - Conrad Gregor and the offense had a big night at The Hangar but the JetHawks pitching struggled in a 14-9 loss on Thursday night.

Gregor hit a three-run home run to tie the game, a two-run homer late in the game and ended up a double shy of the cycle. Overall, the JetHawks first baseman finished 4-for-5 with two home runs, a triple, five RBIs and three runs scored.

Lancaster's pitching struggled for the second straight night against Visalia (46-51). Lance McCullers allowed two runs on two hits with six strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings in his start but Zack Morton and Juan Minaya were each hit hard out of the bullpen.

Morton (1-1) allowed seven runs (six earned) on four hits with three walks in 2 2/3 innings to pick up the loss. With the game tied 6-6 after Gregor's home run, Morton allowed a solo shot to Brandon Jacobs to put the Rawhide up for good.

Minaya gave up five runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. He struck out two without issuing a walk but allowed three home runs. Jacobs hit his second homer of the night off Minaya and Brandon Drury and Robbie Freeman each went deep as well late in the game.

The JetHawks (56-41) started the game on the right track when Tanner Mathis hit his first homer for Lancaster. The three-run shot in the second inning put the JetHawks on the board first.

Spencer Arroyo (5-5) got the win despite allowing six runs on seven hits in five innings.

Tyler White put together a 2-for-4 night in his Lancaster debut and Roberto Peña doubled and went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The JetHawks look to salvage a game from the three-game series on Friday night at The Hangar. Kyle Westwood will take the mound for the JetHawks. First pitch is 6:30 p.m. for Michael Jackson Fireworks Night.
