May 29, 2006
Taber Lee had three hits and two RBIs as Indianapolis pounded Syracuse, 8-4, on Monday at Alliance Bank Stadium.

Lee doubled and scored in the second inning and had a two-run single in the fifth to lead the 15-hit attack. Raul Gonzalez added run-scoring singles in the first and fifth for the Indians (29-21), who have won three straight.

J. J. Furmaniak hit his sixth homer in the ninth to open an 8-3 cushion.

Tom Gorzelanny (4-3) picked up the win, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out five in seven solid innings. Jonah Bayliss fanned one and walked one in a scoreless ninth to notch his sixth save.

Syracuse starter Josh Towers (0-1) took the loss in his first appearance for the SkyChiefs. He surrendered six runs -- two earned -- on 11 hits over seven innings while striking out four and walking one.

Towers was sent to Syracuse after going 1-8 with a 9.00 ERA in 10 starts for Toronto.
