"Return of the King Burger" Newest Addition to "Extreme Foods" Menu
(AKRON, OHIO) July 19, 2014 - The Akron RubberDucks announced today a new addition to the popular "Extreme Foods" menu.
The new entree is the "Return of the King Burger," a four-ounce burger topped with Boursin cheese, a king crab meat blend, and wine and gold slaw. The homemade coleslaw is mixed cabbage tossed with champagne vinaigrette and seasoned with salt, pepper, and Old Bay Seasoning.
The new burger honors Akron native LeBron James and his recent return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"We're excited to have another great addition to our 'Extreme Foods' lineup," Akron RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander said. "Our food and beverage director Brian Manning spent a long time putting together the perfect ingredients to welcome the 'King' back to Akron."
The "Extreme Menu" item will sell for $8.50 and is available at Taters concession stand located behind home plate.
The "Return of the King Burger" joins other "Extreme Menu" entrees new for 2014 such as the "Johnny Footlong," an 8-ounce Five Star hot dog topped with Texas Jack chili, shredded pepper jack cheese and Sriracha sauce, "The Pineapple TeriyAKRON Bowl," a half pineapple, hollowed out and stuffed with a stir fry mix and finished with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce, and the "Ugly Duckling," 16 ounces of stout beer poured over three scoops of vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate syrup and sprinkles.
The "Return of the King Burger" hits stands on July 18 during the doubleheader at Canal Park.
The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is its 18th since moving to Canal Park and its first since becoming the RubberDucks.
