Marksberry Masterful in 8-0 Shutout Victory

The Rome Braves (12-21) defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds (16-17) in convincing fashion 8-0 on Wednesday night. Matt Marksberry went seven shutout innings allowing only one hit. The Rome offense had 13 hits in the game.

Rome came out swinging posting two runs in the first on an RBI double by Johan Camargo and a run scoring sacrifice fly by Victor Caratini. The Braves added a single run in the third when Sean Godfrey reached on single and was eventually plated on a single by Carlos Franco for the 3-0 score. Rome pulled away in the fourth on an RBI single by Connor Oliver, a run scoring ground out from Victor Caratini, and a two run double by Ross Wilson to increase their lead to 7-0. Caratini would add another run scoring ground out in the eighth for the 8-0 final.

Marksberry (3-6) gets the win while Nick Cunningham (1-3) is charged with the loss.
