Dodgers' Cesar Izturis Scheduled To Join 51s on Major League Rehabilitation Assignment
Izturis the Gold Glove Shortstop began his ML rehab assignment a few days ago in Vero Beach, Florida. He was named to the 2005 National League all-Star team and appeared in 106 games and batted .257 (114-for-444) with 19 doubles and 31 RBI. He had his season cut short after being diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in his right elbow which required season-ending Tommy John surgery on Sept. 16, 2005.
Izturis would become the third Dodger player to join the 51s for a Major League rehabilitation assignment this season. The other two were first baseman Nomar Garciaparra from April 20-21 and right-handed pitcher Eric Gagné from May 26-29.
