Kevin Pillar named IL Batter of the Week
The International League announced today that Buffalo Bisons OF KEVIN PILLAR has been named the league's Batter-of-the-Week for the period of July 28-August 3. Pillar also was given the honor April 28-May 4, becoming the first Bisons player to win two weekly awards in one season since RHP Nelson Figueroa in 2009.
PILLAR hit .345 (10-29) over the past week and led the International League with three home runs, 20 total bases, and five stolen bases. He hit safely in all seven games this week to push his overall hitting streak to 10 and posted a .690 slugging pct. On Friday against Indianapolis, Pillar added his League‐leading 31st double of the season. He is also among the League leaders in stolen bases (T‐3rd), average (4th), and slugging percentage (5th).
With Pillarʹs efforts, the Bisons won five out of seven this week to climb within 3.5 games of the Wild Card in the race for the Governorsʹ Cup playoffs.
