BlueClaws to offer military discount
Members, or retired members, of the military can bring their Military ID with them to the FirstEnergy Park Box Office windows and receive individual game tickets for themselves and three guests at just $7, the lowest price offered by the team.
"Our servicemen and women put their lives on the line to protect our liberty here at home," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "Certainly with so many active and retired soldiers in our area, we thought this was a great way for us to say 'Thanks.'"
There are several additional military-related events the BlueClaws will take part in this year, including their June 15th Military Appreciation Night. The BlueClaws will host a troop supply drive and collect razors, snacks, baby wipes, shampoo, soap, non-chocolate candy and sweets, sun block (SPF 40 or higher), lip balm, writing utensils, silly string, deodorant, tissues, q-tips, white socks, batteries, insect repellant with Deet and flashlights.
The Troop Drive is in conjunction with the Monmouth-Ocean Central Labor Council Military Committee, Monmouth-Ocean Building Trade Council, National Guard, Toms River Armory, A.R.M.S, Troop Clothing Drive, and IBEW Local 400 Military Committee.
BlueClaws players will once again wear camouflage jerseys on Military Appreciation Night. June 29th, the BlueClaws will host Disabled American Veterans Night, featuring a pre-game ceremony honoring those wounded on the battlefield.
At every game this year, the BlueClaws will collect gently used cell phones which will be donated to Cell Phones for Soldiers. Fans can drop off their cell phones at the NJR Information Booth on the concourse.
Finally, the BlueClaws, OceanFirst, 92.7 WOBM and 1160 WOBM-AM have brought back Home Runs for Heroes, a program through which local military-based charities can receive a $1,000 grant from OceanFirst Foundation on every BlueClaws home run at FirstEnergy Park.
BlueClaws 2010 ticket packages are now on sale, and individual game tickets will go on sale to the general public at the team's FanFest event on Saturday, March 20th, from noon to 5 pm. Opening Day is April 16th, when the team raises the 2009 South Atlantic League Championship banner. Call 732-901-7000 or log on to BlueClaws.com for more information.
