Ervin, Romano Selected as Dragons Players of the Month

DAYTON, OHIO-Outfielder Phillip Ervin and right-handed starting pitcher Sal Romano have been selected as the Dayton Dragons Batter and Pitcher of the Month for July.

The winning players will be honored during an inning break of the Dragons game tonight at Fifth Third Field vs. the Great Lakes Loons. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon tomorrow, Wednesday, August 6th, at Buffalo Wild Wings, 262 East Stroop Road in Kettering, at 12:00 noon. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.

Ervin led the Dragons in July in RBI (17), extra base hits (10), and doubles (7). He tied for the team lead in runs scored (16), hits (25), home runs (2), and stolen bases (5). He posted a slugging percentage for the month of .404 while batting .253. 

Romano posted a record of 3-1 in July with a 1.32 earned run average in five starts. In 27.1 innings, he allowed only four earned runs with 5 walks and 28 strikeouts.

Other nominees for the Dragons Batter of the Month for July were Carlton Daal and Joe Hudson. Other Pitcher of the Month nominees were Alejandro Chacin and Nick Travieso.

The Dragons host Great Lakes tonight and tomorrow (both games at 7:00 p.m.) at Fifth Third Field.
