White Sox recall Thomas

FORT MILL, S.C. -- Prior to today's game vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Chicago White Sox recalled Frank Thomas from his rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated the designated hitter/first baseman from the 15-day disabled list.

Thomas takes the roster spot of right-handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy, who was optioned to Charlotte following his start on May 27 at Texas. Thomas, who turned 37 last Friday, batted .190 (8-42) with one home run and four RBI in 11 games with the Knights.

The Two-time MVP batted .271 with 18 home runs and 49 RBIs before being placed on the disabled list July 7 of last year. In his 15 major league seasons, Thomas is a career .308 hitter with 436 home runs, and along with Barry Bonds, one of only two active players with a .300 career average, 400 home runs, 1,000 RBIs, 1,000 runs and 1,000 walks.
