Jake Lamb Joins The Arizona Diamondbacks

Lamb Becomes The 47th Osprey To Reach The Majors

MISSOULA, Mont. - The Arizona Diamondbacks have selected contract of infielder Jake Lamb (2012) from Triple-A Reno. Lamb's quick ascension to the D-backs makes him the 47th Osprey to join The Show.

Lamb, 23, spent most of the summer in Double-A Mobile before a recent promotion to Reno. In 108 games, he hit .327 with 39 doubles, 15 home runs and 84 RBI. He was one of the best sluggers in all of Minor League Baseball, ranking in extra-base hits (3rd, 59), OPS (9th, .973), RBI (11th) and total bases (17th, 222).   

Arizona's sixth round pick of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft from the University of Washington began the year rated as the club's No. 9 Prospect by MLB.com and the No. 10 Prospect by Baseball America. Lamb was named the Southern League midseason All-Star was and the Arizona Organizational Player of the Month for July.

In 244 games spanning three seasons, he has batted .321 with 83 doubles, 37 home runs and 193 RBI. Lamb, who will don No. 19 in his Major League debut, hit .329 with 57 RBI with the Osprey in 2012.
