Zack Larson assigned to GCL Twins
Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Zack Larson has been activated from the 7-day DL and assigned to the GCL Twins and OF Jon Murphy has been released from the roster. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Larson has played in 32 games for the Kernels this season, batting .292 with 11 doubles, a home run and 19 RBI. He went on the DL back on May 10th with a right hamstring strain.
Murphy played in 47 games for the Kernels, batting .207 with a home run and nine RBI. The Twins originally selected him in the 19th round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Jacksonville University.
The Twins did not announce a corresponding move. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the Midwest League maximum of 25, with four players currently on the DL and two players on MLB rehab assignments.
The Kernels continue a seven game home stand tonight at 6:35 pm against the Kane County Cougars, the Midwest League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The current home stand continues through Sunday, August 10th.
