Jose Canseco to take on Valley participants in Home Run Derby at Chukchansi Park
FRESNO, Calif. - The Jose Canseco Home Run Challenge, presented by Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, commences on Tuesday, August 12th at Chukchansi Park as six participants take on former Major League Baseball slugger Jose Canseco in a Home Run Derby prior to the Fresno Grizzlies 7:05 p.m. PT game against the Oklahoma City RedHawks, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Gates will open to Chukchansi Park at 5:00 p.m. (4:30 p.m. for season ticket holders), with the Home Run Derby beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Canseco, 50, will compete in both a softball and baseball Home Run Derby, with three challengers providing the competition in each category.
The six participants were selected from an open tryout hosted by the Fresno Grizzlies back on July 20th at Chukchansi Park. Isaac Gonzalez (Santa Clara, CA), Brent Lewis (Tracy, CA), and Ronnie Lewis (Clovis, CA) are scheduled to compete against Canseco in the softball portion, while Jeff Depew (Clovis, CA), Sean Figueroa (Clovis, CA), and Kris Haycock (Fresno, CA) square off against the slugger in the baseball portion.
A specialized ticket package is available for those interested in being on the field during the Home Run Derby. For $25, a person receives a field level reserve game ticket, a Derby t-shirt, and the opportunity to shag balls during the competition.
Limited remaining VIP packages are available to those fans interested in meeting Jose Canseco. For $99, a person receives a field box game ticket, a Derby t-shirt, and a ticket into a VIP Meet-and-Greet with Canseco prior to the Grizzlies' game.

Canseco is scheduled to sign autographs on the main concourse during the game (limit one item per person).
After the conclusion of the Home Run Derby, and in anticipation of Taco Truck Throwdown IV on Thursday, August 14th, Jose Canseco will be hitting a taco piñata full of Taco Truck Throwdown taco vouchers in the Tecate Cantina at 6:35 p.m. All fans attending Tuesday night's game are invited to the Tecate Cantina during that time to collect as many taco vouchers as they possibly can.
